Thomas M. Welsh, Associate Director, Music
Thomas M. Welsh, associate director for music, is responsible for the programming of the Cleveland Museum of Arts nationally acclaimed Western classical music series.
Prior to his appointment at the CMA, Welsh worked at Elision Fields Artists Management in San Francisco where he managed composers and performers including Terry Riley, Stefano Scodanibbio, Brandon Ross, Harriet Tubman, Matthias Ziegler and others.
For 10 years, Welsh managed the classical music label New Albion Records, where he oversaw all matters of production for many of the most highly regarded artists of our time, including Terry Riley, Ingram Marshall, Cuarteto Latinoamericano, John Cage, Aaron Jay Kernis, New Century Chamber Orchestra and many more.
Welsh has written extensively about music, from print publications to online magazines and newsletters to a book forthcoming on University of California Press. He has been a guest on numerous panels and conferences internationally. In addition, he has regularly pursued complementary activities in the lively arts such as producing festivals and events in the Bay Area.
